Little Manatee River State Park

The trails take you across open prairies dotted with numerous small marshes, and through hammocks of cabbage palms and live oak trees. Deer, turkey, and many kinds of wading birds can often be seen in this area.
You may also encounter bobcats, otters, bald eagles, sandhill cranes and alligators. The total length of the three-loop trail is about 12 miles. Numbered trail markers correspond with the horse trail map.

Deer Prairie Creek Preserve
7001 Forbes Trail, Venice, FL 34285
Deer Prairie Creek Preserve was jointly acquired by the District and Sarasota County and lies between I-75 and US 41. The Schewe Tract, which lies both north and south of I-75, is managed by the District. The property was acquired to protect the floodplain of the river and the water quality of the water sources within the region.
The dominant natural communities are pine flatwoods, mixed hardwood and pine, and wetland hardwoods. A portion of the tract was utilized for cattle grazing and is being restored to a more natural condition through the reintroduction of fire on a periodic basis.

Alafia State Park

Riders can enjoy a relaxing day of approximately 20 miles of equestrian trails. The horse trails are well marked and wind around lakes, over hills and through wooded areas.
The blue trail is a perimeter loop, the white trail runs north and south, the green trail runs east and west, and the yellow trails are island loops.
Take a trial ride at Alafia River State Park. Trail rides usually last for 2 to 4 hours. Call for rates.

Ocala and Inverness Full-Day Trail Rides
We offer full day rides in Ocala and Inverness. Trail rides will consist of 4-6 hours of riding including a stop for lunch. You may bring your own lunch or we can provide one.
